Apply to Cañada Middle College

Middle College is a program of all four Sequoia Union High School District comprehensive high schools; applicants must meet any and all regulations pertaining to enrollment in Carlmont, Menlo-Atherton, Sequoia, and Woodside High Schools.

Step 1 - Complete the  Middle College Application 

We will begin taking applications for Fall 2017 in January 2017.

Step 2 - Complete the Cañada College Application online.

All students must complete the college application. Completing the college application will generate your college ID number. You will need this ID number for everything at the college. A completed college application will also generate a college email address. This is how you will receive all your college correspondence. How to fill out the college application. When you fill out the college application, it's important to remember to choose concurrent enrollment on the enrollment information page.

Step 3 - Take the College Placement Exam

All prospective students must take the college placement exam for English, reading and math. Applicants must take the placement exams before the Middle College application deadline. Your placement will determine the college classes you may take. The exam is computerized and self-paced and could take 1.5 to 3.5 hours. You will need your college ID number to make an appointment. On the day of the exam, you must bring your college ID number and photo ID. Please arrive ten minutes early to register. You will receive a printout of your results at the end of the exam. Please save these results.  You are not required to take the exam on March 19 - the Testing Center will register Middle College applicants for any Wednesday test date that has space available.

Step 4 - Submit a writing sample

All applicants must submit a typed 1-2 page essay, double spaced.

Topic: Discuss a challenge you have faced in the last 4 years. How did you overcome this difficulty or what lesson did you learn from this situation?

Send the essay to brandinc@smccd.edu or fax to 650-306-3128. Be sure the applicant's name is on the essay.

Step 5 - Recommendation Forms

Recommendation forms should be given to two teachers and your guidance counselor.

Applicants not currently enrolled in a SUHSD school must also provide the most recent copy of their high school transcript and attendance report. Please fax these documents to 650-306-3128 or email to brandinc@smccd.edu.

Once all components are complete, intake interviews will be scheduled with each student and her/his parent or guardian. Middle College faculty will contact applicants to schedule the interview.
