Al Gore’s “The Climate Project” Coming to Cañada College

Dr. Gary Latshaw will present a slide show based on the film “An Inconvenient Truth” and discuss the consequences of climate change and the continued use of fossil fuels.

Dr. Gary Latshaw, a professor at Menlo College and a representative of The Climate Project, will discuss the impacts of climate change and the possible consequences of the continued use of fossil fuels around the world in two presentations at Cañada College.

Latshaw’s presentations will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in the Main Theater at the college, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd., in Redwood City. The first presentation will be held from 11:10 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. and the second will run from 12:45 to 2 p.m. They are both free and open to the public.

The Climate Project is a nonprofit organization based in Nashville, TN. It began in June 2006 with the mission of increasing public awareness of the climate crisis at a grassroots level in the United States and abroad. By April 2007, a diverse group of 1,000 volunteers from throughout the U.S. had been trained by former Vice President Al Gore to present a version of the slide show featured in the Academy Award-winning film An Inconvenient Truth. As of October 2008, volunteers have delivered nearly 20,000 presentations and reached a combined audience of 2 million people.

The event is sponsored by the Cañada College Health Center. For more information, contact Lesli Sachs at (650) 306-3309 or sachs@smccd.edu
