Digital Eclectic: Works by Multimedia Art & Technology Students
The opening reception will be held Wednesday, March 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
For today’s commercial artists, “multimedia” is a very true term. Graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, and motion graphics artists must all have a wide and varied skill set in order to compete and thrive in the commercial art world. It’s not enough to know how to compose a picture or draw an audience’s attention; the digital artist must frequently be well versed in several graphics applications, and often may need to know a bit about writing computer code as well.
"Digital Eclectic" celebrates the diverse skills and talents being developed by the students in the Multimedia Art & Technology program at Cañada College. The show opens Tuesday, March 8 and runs through Wednesday, April 20. It is free and open to the public. The exhibit is displayed in the Cañada College Art Gallery, First Floor, Building 9. The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery is closed on Fridays and the week of April 3-9 for spring break.
"As you go through the gallery, you’ll notice the diverse range of skills on display – from graphic design to illustration to photography to motion graphics and animation," said Assistant Professor Paul Naas, coordinator of the Multimedia Art & Technology Program at the college. "All of these disciplines inform each other, and frequently borrow from each other in order to complete the artist’s vision."
