Campus will celebrate Engineering Week Feb. 17-20 with a variety of events.

Cañada College will celebrate Engineering Week Feb. 17-20 with a variety of events designed to introduce students to engineering and science careers. Events include:

  • A workshop to help students apply for the Engineering Institute at San Francisco State University. Students can spend two weeks this summer living at San Francisco State University and explore engineering. Room and board is free and students will receive a $350 stipend. The workshop will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. in the MESA Center (Building 9, Second Floor). Students who apply wil receive a free MESA t-shirt.
  • The college will host Engineering and Science Awareness Day on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the cafeteria. Students can learn more about careers in science and engineering and enjoy a free burrito from El Grullense.
  • Students interested in transferring to U.C. Davis can travel to the campus Thursday, Feb. 19 for the U.C. Davis Engineering Expo and Transfer Student Day. Students should sign up at the MESA Center by Feb. 17.
  • Learn how to play the fast-paced, exciting card game, Elementeo, the Chemistry Card Game. A tournament will be held Thursday, Feb. 19 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Building 22, Room 116.
  • Dr. Thomas Landefeld, biology professor from CSU-Dominguez Hills, will host a workshop titled, "Becoming a Scientist or Engineer: Considerations for Students in Choosing a Career." The workshop will be held Friday, Feb. 20 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Main Theater.
