Cañada College Will Close Parking Lots on Fourth of July
Redwood City has cancelled its annual fireworks display so the college will keep the parking lots closed.
The Cañada College campus will be closed on the Fourth of July and school administrators are urging people who annually use the school’s parking lots to view fireworks across the Peninsula to make alternative plans.
Cañada College is located at the top of Farm Hill Blvd. just off of Highway 280 and the school’s parking lots offer panoramic views of the Peninsula. For years, people have been parking their cars in the school’s parking lots to watch the Fourth of July fireworks displays from Redwood Shores. This year, the fireworks display at Redwood Shores has been cancelled due to budget constraints so the campus parking lots will be closed.
"It's expensive to provide restroom facilities, clean-up, and security," President Thomas Mohr said. "With the fireworks display in Redwood City being cancelled, it doesn't make sense to keep our parking lots open."
