Kang Ties for Fifth, Bedolla 21st at State Golf Playoffs
Samantha Kang just misses medal in playoff hole after scintillating final round.
CaƱada's Samantha Kang was one of the hottest golfers at the California Community College Women's Golf State Championships Tuesday but fell just short of winning a medal after losing a playoff hole to Ashlye Redmond of College of the Canyons. Kang started the tournament with a disappointing 84 in the first round but scorched the Sunnyside Country Club course on the second day, shooting 75, a mark bettered by just one golfer, eventual champion Jenny Lee of College of the Canyons. Lee was the only golfer to shoot under par for the tournament.
Kimberly Bedolla fired a first-round 82 but struggled in the second round, shooting an 88. Bedolla's combined score was good enough for a 21st place tie.
The men's golf team will begin action in the spring semester.
