High School Engineering Students Ready for Competition

Fifteenth annual engineering competition to challenge Bay Area high school students.

More than 150 high school students will compete in the 15th annual Cañada College Engineering Contest for High School Students on Friday, April 24 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The event will be held in the college cafeteria, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd., Redwood City. This year's contest objective is to design and build a mechanically powered device that launches a projectile and hits a target at a specified distance. This must be done under specific design criteria. The event is co-sponsored by the Cañada Science and Engineering Club, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement (MESA). "Every year we see some very creative designs," said Amelito Enriquez, professor of math and engineering and event organizer. More information about the contest is available at 650 306-3261.
