New Student? Check to See if You Are Required to Attend Orientation and Advising.
New students planning to transfer to a four-year university, earn an associate degree or a certificate are now required to attend orientation and advising.
New students planning to earn an associate degree, certificate, or transfer to a four-year university are required to attend orientation and advising prior to registering for classes. This does not affect students taking a single course. After completing the assessment test, students can register on-line for any of the 10 scheduled orientation sessions.
During the orientation, students will complete in-class activities related to college, take a tour of campus, meet individually with a counselor, log-on to WebSMART, and register for classes. "National research indicates that this type of up-front, mandatory service has a positive impact on student success," said Robin Richards, Vice President of Student Services.
