Men's and Women's Soccer Teams Ready for Playoffs
Men play at Foothill, women travel to Santa Rosa.
The women's soccer team will open the Nor-Cal playoffs Saturday afternoon at Santa Rosa Junior College while the men play the same day at Foothill College. The women finished the regular season with a 13-5-3 record while the men were 12-8-3.
It's a huge test for Cañada's women's team as Santa Rosa finished the season with a 14-2-4 record and earn the top-seed in the Nor-Cal playoffs. Elvira Garcia will lead the Colts. She had 15 goals and six assists during the regular season.
The men's team enters the Nor-Cal playoffs as the ninth-seed and will face a Foothill team seeded eighth. Foothill finished the season with a 16-5-0 record. The winner will face top-seeded Santa Rosa, a team that lost just once during the regular season. To advance, the Colts will need to find a way to stop high-scoring Rio Omata, who scored 19 goals and added nine assists for Foothill. Kristian Lyssand led Cañada with 14 goals and six assists.
