Students now have their own Cañada College email powered by Google!
On October 20th, 2008, every student will be given a new email account (@my.smccd.edu). You get:
• Over 7 GB of storage! • Cool features: Calendar, Docs (presentations, documents, spreadsheets), Google Talk and Sites. Google Docs has a "sharing" option in which you can simultaneously collaborate on files with your instructor or classmates. Like Word, PowerPoint & Excel BUT it's free! • Ability to chat with friends, communicate with your instructors and get important college info. • To keep everything online so you don’t need to worry about losing your files. • An email account you can keep for life
After Oct. 20, all college correspondence will be sent to your official @my.smccd.edu email account. my.smccd.edu will be the place students will:
-- Add to class waitlists --Make registration appointments --Correspond with Financial Aid --Get WebSMART receipts --Communicate with your instructors and classmates
You just have to log on once: You can forward your new email account to your current email account, if that’s your preference.
How do I access my new account?
Cañada College will use your current email address to send a message telling you how to log in, or you can visit WebSMART.
Benefits
--Emails can be viewed in your web browser, in Outlook, in Entourage or on your portable devices.
--Chat with your classmates in Google Talk (if you know their email address).
