October is Filipinx-American Heritage Month
The
first recorded presence of Filipinxs in the United States was on
October 18, 1587 when “Luzones Indios” came ashore in what is now Morro
Bay, California. In 2009, U.S. Congress recognized October as Filipinx
American Heritage Month. Filipinx Americans is the third largest AANHPI

The Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander S.T.A.R. program, Cultural Center and Associated Students of Cañada College have month long events to celebrate and center our Filipinx community. Please join us for the FAHM Kick-Off event on Thursday, October 2 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Cultural Center.
