MASKING RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED

San Mateo County’s current Community Level is LOW and face masks are strongly recommended but not required while indoors at any SMCCCD facility except those designated as healthcare facilities. As the San Mateo County Community Level changes, updated information will be provided to students, employees, and visitors. Masks are located at various locations throughout all buildings. To track the San Mateo County’s COVID Community Level, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.

 

SPRING 2023 SCHEDULE ON WEBSMART

The Spring 2023 schedule of courses has been posted on WebSchedule. Priority registration starts on Wednesday, November 2.

 

THE GREAT SHAKEOUT & EVACUATION ON THURSDAY

The Great California Shakeout is an annual opportunity to practice being safer during big earthquakes. This year’s drill takes place on October 20 at 10:20 am. Drop, Cover, and Hold On is the immediate action taken during an earthquake to protect students and staff from flying and falling debris. SMCCCD combines Drop, Cover, and Hold On with a secondary Evacuation drill.

 

FREE FLU VACCINES IN THE HEALTH CENTER

Students and employees can receive free flu vaccines at the Cañada Health Center, located in Building 5, Room 303. Please book an appointment canhealth@smccd.edu, call (650) 306-3309 or walk in Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT ACTION WEEK

Undocumented Student Action Week (USAW) is week-long series of events happening from October 17 to October 21, 2022 that aim to celebrate and provide resources for undocumented students. The events being hosted at Cañada, College of San Mateo, and Skyline are open to all students, community members, and will be a mix of virtual, hybrid, and in person. USAW is part of a statewide effort led by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office to advocate for undocumented students and create systems that will lead to their success. CAMPUS SHUTTLE

The Cañada College shuttle will run direct service Monday-Friday to/from Cañada and East Palo Alto beginning August 17, 2022 through December 16, 2022. Visit canadacollege.edu/shuttle for the latest schedule updates.

Google Slides: Getting Started with your Presentation

Learn to create a simple presentation, how to format and edit the slides, how to work with text and images, and how to present a slideshow. This is an interactive session on creating and designing your presentations.

Screening and Discussion on Netflix Series “Mo”

Join Professor Kiran Malavade’s English class as they watch the first two episodes of the Netflix Series “Mo”, which centers on the life of Mo Najar, a twenty-something undocumented Palestinian refugee living in Houston, Texas, trying to navigate the U.S. immigration system and support his family. The diverse cast and engaging storyline will give us much to discuss!
