Cañada College offers two foster youth programs, NextUp and Foster Youth Success Initiative (FYSI). NextUp and FYSI aim to create a network of support that will meet the academic, social, emotional, and financial needs of our students. These programs are fully committed to empowering our students to become self-supporting, conscious community leaders, role models, and competent professionals in their fields of interest. In addition, we provide a comprehensive support program to increase the number of current/former foster youth graduating from a community college with an associate’s degree, vocational training, or transferring to a four-year university. |

NextUp or FYSI, which do I qualify for?
NextUp Eligibility
- Foster Youth or Ward of the Court (on or after 13th birthday)
- 26 years old or younger (at start of academic year in which the student enrolls in NextUp)
FYSI Eligibility
- Foster Youth or Ward of the Court (any age outside of NextUp eligibility)
