Word Jam
Led by Prof. Gerardo Pacheco, this 2 day event is designed to help ESL students get acclimated to campus while giving them a small preview of what they could see in their next ESL course.
Registration
Registration for the upcoming Word Jam will open soon! The AM session is from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the PM session is from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Aims
Word Jam has three aims. They are to help students:
- Prepare for their next English or ESL course
- Learn about Cañada College resources
- Meet other students.
Word Jam is designed to best help students who will be taking an English or ESL course in the coming semester, however, all students with a G# are welcomed.
Schedule
Word Jam is held Monday through Thursday for one week in August and January. There are day and evening sessions (August and January), each session being 4 hours per day.
Once a students' registration has been confirmed, students are placed in either an ESL–focused section or a Basic English-focused section based on the next level of Reading, English or ESL courses for which they are eligible.
While we welcome students to attend when they are able, we encourage all students who intend on participating in Word Jam to attend all 4 days during the week to get the most from their Word Jam experience.
