For Students
Do I need to apply to be part of NOW?
No. If you take evening or online classes at Cañada College, you're automatically part of the NOW support network. There's no application, no minimum units, and no separate enrollment just enroll at Cañada College and register for the classes that fit your life.
I'm not a working adult. Can I still be apart of NOW?
Yes. NOW supports all evening and online students. You are not required to work full-time to be part of NOW.
I've taken classes at a different college before. Will those classes count?
Bring your unofficial transcript(s) to your first meeting with a counselor. Our counselor can give you an idea of which courses can transfer over, but you will need an official evaluation to determine if Cañada College will accept these courses. You do not need to go through this process if the college you attended was Skyline College or College of San Mateo, as these colleges, along with Cañada College, are part of the San Mateo Community College District. The classes I want to take aren't on the evening/online pathway lists. Can NOW still help me?
Yes. NOW is here to support evening and online students in finding classes that fit their schedule and goals. We'll help you build a flexible schedule so you can stay on track and finish your degree or certificate at your own pace. If you're thinking about taking a class outside your degree or certificate pathway, connect with one of our counselors they can help you explore your options and make a plan that works best for you.
You don't offer the major I want as an evening/online pathway. What are my options?
Talk to a counselor about your options for pursuing the four-year degree you want with the associate degrees and certificates that can be completed evenings and online. As evening and online offerings continue to grow, more pathways become available.
What's the time commitment like? I'm very busy with other priorities in my life.
In addition to going to class, it is important that you make enough room in your schedule to complete homework assignments and prepare for tests. We suggest students begin by taking 3-6 units their first semester to get acquainted to fitting school into their schedule.
