S.T.A.R. Timeline

AANAPISI S.T.A.R. Initiative Timeline:

  • Summer 2022: San Francisco State University in partnership with Cañada College, College of San Mateo and Skyline College applied for a Title III, AANAPISI cooperative grant.
  • Fall 2022: The proposal entitled ARC (Access, Relevance and Community) was awarded a 5-year federally-funded Title 3, Part A grant. The ARC partners began program planning.
  • February 2023: Director of Postsecondary Success secured a Program Services Coordinator for AANAPISI and Colts-U Transfer Center.
  • March 2023: AANAPISI ARC partners host AANAPISI Day at SF State University.
  • April 2023: AANAPISI ARC partners attended and presented the grant project at the Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education Conference in Oakland, CA.
  • May 2023: Cañada AANAPISI working group formed.
  • June 2023:
    • Cañada College received the Foundations for California Community College’s Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Student Achievement Program funds.
    • Hired Program Services Coordinator.
  • September 2023: Launched the ARC Transfer Pathway program to SF State.
  • October 2023: Coordinated Filipino culture presentation and tinikling dance lesson highlighting Filipinx-American Heritage Month.
  • April 2024: Launched inaugural Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration.
  • May 2024: Launched inaugural Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Graduation Ceremony.
  • September 2024: Officially launched the S.T.A.R. (Success, Transfer, Access, Relevance) program braiding funds from AANHPI SAP and situating ARC program as a culturally responsive transfer pathway pillar of STAR.
  • October 2024: Launched a full month of events for Filipinx-American Heritage Month Celebration.
  • Spring 2025: Piloted the S.T.A.R. Learning Community with courses in English 100 and History 245 aligning with General Education transfer path.
    • Hired adjunct counselor.
  • May 2025: Partnered with Woodside High School and Sequoia High School to honor AANHPI H.S. graduates at the 2nd annual AANHPI Graduation Celebration.
    • AANHPI S.T.A.R. (Success, Transfer, Access, Relevance) received a Proclamation from the Mayor of Redwood City, Elmer Martinez Saballos.
