Cañada College Employee Resource Groups

Employee resource groups (ERGS), are also known as affinity groups. ERGs create and sustain a more diverse and inclusive environment on campus. Studies show that nearly ninety percent of organizations who have ERGs assisted in creating a welcoming environment in the onboarding and retention efforts of their employees.

B.L.A².C.K at Cañada College is an Employee Resource Group (ERG) dedicated to fostering connection, empowerment, and professional growth among employees who identify as Black, African American, African, Afro-American, or of African ancestry and descent, as well as allies who support our mission and initiatives.

B.L.A².C.K stands for Blacks for Love, Academic Achievement, Culture & Knowledge at Cañada. Our group is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive community that promotes mentorship, peer support, leadership development, networking, and employee retention for Black faculty and staff across campus.

We believe that Black educators and professionals play a vital role as mentors and role models for students. By uplifting and empowering one another, we strengthen our ability to lead, inspire, and serve our campus community. We also recognize that healing, wellness, and self-care are essential to effective leadership and long-term success.

Through collaboration, advocacy, and community-building, B.L.A².C.K at Cañada College strives to cultivate a vibrant network of thriving education leaders while welcoming allies who are committed to equity, inclusion, and collective growth.
